Al’s Country Market has been serving Big Island Township and the surrounding Marion County area since 1985. We’re a family-owned convenience store offering fresh takeout food, a full-service deli, groceries, and cold drinks—all under one roof.

We're here to make it easy to grab what you need, whether that’s a quick lunch, sliced meats from the deli, or a bag of ice and snacks on your way out of town. We focus on quality ingredients, friendly service, and keeping things simple and reliable for the people who count on us.

Our History

​

It all started with Al Rhoads, who opened the market back in 1985 with a simple goal: provide good food and convenience for the township.

 

Over the years, the torch was passed to Jack and Melinda Johnson, who expanded the store’s offerings, added fresh deli service, and upgraded the building while keeping the community spirit alive.

In 2023, ownership passed to Audrey and Greg Cobb, who carry the tradition forward with the same hometown heart—plus a few modern upgrades.

Today, Al’s continues to serve Big Island Township and beyond with the perfect blend of nostalgia and new ideas. We’ve grown, but we haven’t changed what matters: welcoming service, quality products, and a genuine love for our community.
